GW Discourse's Founders

Christopher Keith Wimbush, Co-Founder
Christopher Wimbush is a junior in the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences at the George Washington University, a leading national university in the heart of our nation’s capital. Chris is majoring in Political Science (Public Policy Focus) and Psychology and his academic interests focus on media, Internet, and communications Policy, the effects of media on human society and individuals, and U.S. science and technology Policy. Born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Chris grew up in Norwalk, CT and attended the Brunswick School from the 6th to the 12th grade, and is now a resident of Novi, Michigan.

In 2006, Chris founded GW Discourse: The Political Science Quarterly, a non-partisan political issues and current events magazine focused on Domestic and International Affairs as well as political theory and philosophy. He is also a regular contributor on GW Discourse’s main blogs, Domestic Intel and World Watch.

In August of 2007, Chris joined the Institute for Politics, Democracy, and the Internet as an undergraduate researcher, leading a project on national broadband access.

Beyond serving as the Founder and President of GW Discourse, Chris was a research associate at The Franklin Partnership, a public affairs firm in Washington, concentrating on health care, education, cable franchising, and trade issues. In addition, Chris worked as a Special Correspondent for the Greenwich Time (a division of the Tribune Company) in Connecticut.

On campus, Chris has been active in the George Washington University Student Association, SA Senate Associate Parliamentarian from 2005-2006, Vice President for Judicial & Legislative Affairs from 2006-2007, and currently as a Judge on the Student Court. Chris is also a member of the International Affairs Society, where he served as a crisis staffer for the EU 2030 Committee of the 9th Annual Washington Area Model UN Conference and Crisis Director for the European Union Committee of the upcoming “GWCIA” Conference in November 2007.

Robert Platt, Co-Founder
Robert Platt is a junior in the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences and is a double major in Philosophy and Political Science. Robert is Co-Founder and former Editor-in-Chief of GW Discourse and was responsible for overseeing content production for the publication. Beyond GW Discourse, Robert has served the student body as a two term member of the Student Association Senate. For the 2006-2007 Academic Year, Platt was elected to serve as the Academic Affairs Committee Chair. In addition, Robert has held various internships across D.C. including the Department of Justice, Congressman Robert Wexler’s Office, and the Capitol Hill Consulting Group.
